Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML)

Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) Mission Statement: LWML is committed to helping every woman find personal opportunities in her daily life and in her congregation to be nurtured in faith in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit to discover her unique gifts and value in God’s family.

LWML has quarterly meetings the 4th Tuesday in January, April, July and October. During the other months, we hold a Bible study. Every woman who is a member of Immanuel is automatically a member of LWML.

Our LWML Society at Immanuel participates in several projects, including making 62 quilts for Lutheran World Relief and another 12 quilts for the Topeka Veterans Hospital. We also assembled “care packages” for Lutheran World Relief. Our quilts and care packages are combined with those from other societies nationwide and are sent around the world to those in need.

Some other society projects include sponsoring a student at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, donating funds to local charities and funding special requests for items here at Immanuel. Mites are collected during each meeting and Bible study and are forwarded to District to help support organizations like the Children’s Christian Concern Society (leadachild.org), Braille Workers, Lutheran Bible Translators and other projects.
